Restoration of the Chinese Belvedere in Lobkowicz Palace

We have completed the restoration of the Chinese Belvedere Room in the Lobkowicz Palace. During the restoration, which started at the end of March and was completed at the end of July, all minor and major damages were repaired, and the windows were replaced. All painted surfaces were properly cleaned, missing layers of pigment retouched, and any elements in need of repair fixed, to ensure its future preservation. Read More...

The exhibition, created by Pavel Marek from the University of Pardubice and Tomáš Libánek from the East Bohemian Museum in Pardubice, explores the fascinating role of women from the Czech aristocratic Pernstein family, who had a significant influence on European diplomacy. The exhibition will also include samples of period clothing prepared by Martina Hřibová from Tomas Bata University in Zlín and a unique jewelry collection entitled “Jewel for Lobkowicz,” created by students from the Faculty of Design and Art of Ladislav Sutnar at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. New Music Galleries at the Lobkowicz Palace

The Lobkowicz Palace will open its doors starting May 6, 2021 at 10:00. Visitors can look forward to a new exhibition titled ‘Portrait in Music’. Czech architects Martin Hrdina and Michal Pavlík redesigned two rooms into the shape of a Baroque guitar, creating the impression of walking through a musical instrument. The inclusion of audio-visual technology brings an interactive element to the galleries. For example, visitors can get lost in the music of Beethoven streaming from one of the sound showers, surrounded by portraits of musical luminaries and Lobkowicz family members. The new exhibition is open every Thursday and Friday from 10:00 to 17:00, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 to 18:00. Read More...

Partnership with Collegium 1704

Starting May 2021, the Lobkowicz Collections has partnered with Prague Baroque orchestra Collegium 1704. The ensemble was founded by harpsichordist and director Václav Luks on the occasion of the Bach - Prague - 2005 project. Since 2007, Collegium 1704 has been performing at festivals across Europe. In 2008, the Prague - Dresden Music Bridge was launched, connecting the rich cultural traditions of both cities. Collaborations with world-renowned soloists Magdalena Kožena, Vivica Genaux, Bejun Mehta and others in 2012 culminated in a second Collegium 1704 concert series at Prague´s Rudolfinum. Since fall of 2015, these two cycles have merged as one concert season hosted in both Prague and Dresden.

Expansion of Music Rooms at the Lobkowicz Palace

In June 2019, we completed the final phase of cataloguing the Lobkowicz Music Archive. This six-year project was led by Vassar College Associate Professor of Music, Dr. Kathryn Libin, in collaboration with Dr. Petr Slouka, Curator of the Lobkowicz Music Collection, and Soňa Černocká, Curator of the Lobkowicz Library and Archive.
