House of Lobkowicz deepens its cooperation with the Ústí nad Labem Region

A Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation was signed in April 2023 by William Lobkowicz and Jan Schiller, Governor of the Ústí nad Labem Region. The two parties have committed to work together to preserve, restore, and enhance House of Lobkowicz cultural heritage sites, activities, and offerings in the region. One of the main regional areas of interest in the memorandum is Roudnice nad Labem, the historic seat of the family, and part of the Ústí nad Labem region. House of Lobkowicz intends to focus its current and future efforts on the restoration and greater accessibility of Roudnice Castle.

One of the first visible signs of change is a new and engaging panel exhibition at Roudnice Castle, which presents nine centuries of its history with never-before-seen period photographs, drawings, portraits, and prints from the Lobkowicz Library & Archives. The new tour will open to the public on June 13, 2023.

“The conclusion of the Memorandum is above all a moral commitment for us and a confirmation that we want to build on the long history of the Lobkowicz family and their connection with the Ústí nad Labem region and continue meaningful activities, especially in the fields of culture, education, and tourism,” said Governor Jan Schiller.

In addition to Roudnice nad Labem, the memorandum also includes two other locations for joint development activities: Střekov Castle in Ústí nad Labem and the nationally symbolic mountain Říp.

“We value every partnership that will help us to fulfill our mission of preserving and making the Lobkowicz Collections and sites accessible to the public,” said William Lobkowicz.
