Grant for the exhibition in the reconstructed Birth House of Antonín Dvořák

Over the course of this year, the comprehensive revitalization of Antonín Dvořák's birthplace in Nelahozeves will begin. Among other things, this important project includes the construction of a modern interactive exhibition that will focus on the composer's childhood and the influence that the small central Bohemian village had on his future work.

The realization of the project is generously supported by a grant that Lobkowicz Collections, o.p.s. received from the program "Innovative use of movable and immovable heritage", financed by countries from the European Economic Area (EEA): Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein. The total financial support amounts to almost 6 million CZK.

These funds will be used for the preparation and implementation of part of the museum exhibition that features unique sound elements. These will enable visitors to learn about the world-famous composer's first musical steps, and his childhood spent in Nelahozeves and its immediate surroundings. The immersive sound experience conveys the early musical and non-musical sources of inspiration for his later work and places them in historical context. At the same time, it will allow visitors a number of diverse interactions which together provide a distinctive and individualized experience.

The date of completion for the project and the opening of Antonín Dvořák's Birth House is planned for spring 2024.
