Chateau Lobkowicz Roudnice

This year, the Lobkowicz Castle Winery has undergone some fundamental changes. From September 2022, our wines will now be sold under the name Chateau Lobkowicz Roudnice. The new name is intended to strengthen the position of Roudnice wines of the Czech market, and to emphasize the pride that the Lobkowicz family takes in the wine’s origin of Roudnice nad Labem. “In wine terminology, ‘chateau’ can actually refer to the castle cellars where wine is produced. ‘Roudnice’ of course had to stay in the title, as it is where the wine is made and where our roots are, too” says William Rudolf Lobkowicz regarding the name change.

We also created new labels for our wines in collaboration with the Studio Najbrt, a graphic design studio well known for their work for the Karlovy Vary Film Festival and the National Gallery. Additionally, one of our wines will bear the new name Sovice after the hill and vineyard near Roudnice.

The Lobkowicz family want to put Roudnice on the map as the place where the best wines in the Czech Republic are made, something that is already reflected in the fact that our Silvaner Green (2021) and Riesling Rhine (2020) wines won gold medals in the National Wine Competition for the region of Bohemia in August, 2022.

People are invited to come and test the quality of our wines for themselves at one of our many Chateau Lobkowicz Roudnice events planned for September 2022. First of all, we have a tasting of Roudnice wines and burčák (partly fermented grape juice) at the Lobkowicz Palace in Prague Castle on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. The tastings continue at Roudnice Castle in Roudnice nad Labem on Saturday, September 10, 2022. The real highlight of the month is our all-day Wine Harvest Festival at Nelahozeves Castle on Saturday, September 17, 2022. Join us for a packed family-friendly program that features a concert by the legendary Czech band, Mňága and Žďorp.

All Lobkowicz wines are also available at our wine shop, Přípitek z Roudnice, which opened this spring in Prague's Karlín neighborhood at Prvního pluku 144/14, right next to the newly reconstructed Negrelli Viaduct.
