The traditional Pottery Festival invites you to the Renaissance castle in Nelahozeves to celebrate spring and traditional crafts. You can look forward to a wide selection of ceramics, live music, dancing, street performers, and a children’s program, including pony rides. There will also be plenty of food and refreshments available.

Till April 20, 2026, a flat price of 120 CZK applies when purchasing tickets online.

After April 20, the prices will be as follows:

Adults: 190 CZK
Reduced admission (children, students, seniors): 150 CZK
Family ticket: 490 CZK

Castle Exhibition

Discover the castle’s permanent exhibition, Private Spaces: A Noble Family at Home. Inspired by the era of Ferdinand Zdenko, 10th Prince Lobkowicz (1858–1938), twelve period rooms illustrate how a Czech noble family lived in the 19th century.
The tour features Old Master paintings by Brueghel, Rubens, Veronese, Cranach the Younger, and Panini, fine furniture, hunting trophies, and a vast arms collection.

The guided tour lasts approximately 50 minutes.

Visitors can take a tour with a free audioguide, led by members of the Lobkowicz family themselves—including the current head of the family, William Lobkowicz, his wife Alexandra, and his mother Brooks. The audioguide shares personal stories connected to the castle and the family that has owned it for centuries. The audioguide is available in Czech, English and German.

The tour with the audio guide lasts approximately 80 minutes.

Architectural and Historical Tour of the Cellars and Roof Structures

Forget polished rooms and richly decorated ceilings. Here, the castle reveals itself without embellishment. Authentic, raw, and in depth.

Are you curious where hundreds of barrels of wine were stored? Which routes the servants used? How a single rotting beam could alter the silhouette of the entire building? And where you might find a castle that looks almost identical to Nelahozeves?

This tour takes you beyond the usual visitor route—into the cellars, service corridors, and up into the roof structures. You’ll see constructions that are normally hidden and gain a deeper understanding of just how complex a historic building truly is.

The Renaissance castle has been preserved here in an almost unchanged state, which is exactly what makes this tour so exceptional.

You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the day-to-day operation, technical solutions, and hard work without which no noble residence could have functioned.

Practical information

We recommend booking this tour in advance. The tour is conducted in three groups of five people each.
Be prepared for rugged terrain, high humidity, lower temperatures, and a dusty environment. During the summer months, expect higher temperatures in the attic areas. We recommend sturdy athletic shoes and warmer clothing. During the tour, you’ll climb dozens of stairs, but you’ll be rewarded with the chance to see the castle in a way that visitors regularly don’t.

New children’s adventure: In Search of the Lost Treasure

Adventure Expedition into the Depths of Nelahozeves Castle

Want to visit the castle with children but not keen on a traditional tour? This is a different kind of experience—adventurous and a little bit secret.

Visitors are given headlamps and set off into the depths of the castle. There, they’ll encounter puzzles, challenges, and the search for the castle lord’s lost chest. The darkness and the atmosphere of the historic setting add a sense of adventure that immediately draws children in.

This tour takes you through the cellars, along hidden staircases, and up into the roof structures. But instead of a standard guided talk, you’ll face tasks that require creative thinking and teamwork.

It’s not just a game, though. Along the way, you’ll naturally discover the castle’s construction and how it functioned, showing that history can be both engaging and playful.

The tour is suitable for children ages 8 and up. Please be prepared for uneven floors, obstacles, and a dusty environment. During the summer months, expect higher temperatures in the attic areas. We recommend sturdy, athletic shoes. The tour is not suitable for people who suffer from claustrophobia or a fear of the dark.
