A Year in the Village: Harvest Festival

August 30, 2025, Antonín Dvořák Birth House, Nelahozeves

As part of the year-long series “A Year in the Village,” we warmly invite you to a day filled with hands-on creativity and traditional crafts that will bring 19th-century rural life to life.

The end of the harvest—one of the most important moments in the farming calendar—was always marked by celebration, music, and long-standing customs. Come and discover what a harvest festival looked like 150 years ago! Follow the harvest trail to test your skills, learn how farming was done in the past, and make a keepsake to take home.

Come to the Antonín Dvořák Birth House in Nelahozeves on August 30th, enjoy fun activities and engaging stories about Czech traditions with the whole family, and create a small souvenir to take home.

Step back in time with us to an era when life in the countryside looked, sounded, and felt very different from today.

Taste Dvořákova 9

When Flavor Takes the Lead

Dvořák’s unique 9th Symphony continues to inspire, and our new beer, Dvořákova 9, is proof. Created under the direction of Lenka Straková, head brewmaster at the Elektrárna Brewery, this refreshing brew blends Czech and American hops—echoing the same cross-cultural inspiration that shaped Dvořák’s music. You can find the beer at the Antonín Dvořák Birth House and at Bistro Skála near Nelahozeves Castle.

Farewell to Summer Holidays

Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 5:00 PM – Nelahozeves Castle

Summer holidays are ending, but instead of being sad, let’s say goodbye in style! Bring the whole family to roast sausages over a campfire and then enjoy an open-air summer movie night at 19:30, where we’ll be showing the fairy tale film Zlatovláska (2025).

Admission to the campfire and movie is free!

Antonín Dvořák Birth House will also have extended opening hours until 19:30 on this special day. So, before the movie and the sausages, don’t miss the chance to visit the interactive museum that playfully introduces you to the childhood and inspiration of one of the world’s greatest composers.

Summer holidays might be ending, but the fun in Nelahozeves is just getting started!
