Wine Harvest Festival
Celebrate the fall season at the Roudnice Wine Harvest Festival. Now an annual tradition, the Festival is held each September in the heart of historic downtown Roudnice nad Labem and at Roudnice Castle, the historic seat of the Lobkowicz family and home to the Roudnice Lobkowicz Winery. The Castle, which is otherwise closed to the public, is opened exclusively for such special events.
The event, organized by Lobkowicz Events Management and the Roudnice nad Labem Cultural Center, celebrates the wine, food, music and traditions of the region. The program boasts a full schedule of musical entertainment—with over twenty bands performing pop, swing, country, rock and folk songs on two stages set on the castle grounds—and family-friendly activities, including falconry shows, a marionette theater, pony rides, an historic automobile show, a visit from Forefather Czech, dozens of craft vendors and a spectacular nighttime fireworks display.
A day at the Wine Harvest Festival would not be complete without sampling the offerings from the Roudnice Lobkowicz Winery—featuring many award-winning wines and the popular, seasonal sparkling wine burčák—touring the original Romanesque sections of the castle with guides in period costume or exploring the 17th-century Castle chapel.
Roudnice nad Labem is easily accessible from Prague by car (highway E55 North) or by train from either Hlavní nádraží or Masarykovo nádraží. For more information, please see Getting Here.
The 2011 Wine Harvest Festival will be held on Saturday, 17 September from 10:00 to 23:00.
