Tours

The Museum recommends groups take advantage of the very popular audio guide, which is FREE with the price of admission. The audio guide is available in Czech, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Spanish. The English-language audio guide is narrated by two generations of the Lobkowicz family and the Museums's Chief Curator.

Depending on time and interest, when following the audio guide, a visit to the exhibition typically lasts anywhere from 30 minutes (viewing only the red-numbered “highlights” of the exhibition) to 1.5 hours (viewing most of the pieces on exhibition at a relaxed pace). Please visit TripAdvisor to read reviews and ratings.

The audio guide, narrated by members of the family, consistently receives rave reviews. It also contains music selections that bring to life the pieces on view in the exhibition. It is highly recommended for groups of all sizes.

Guided tours, with approved guides only, are available when scheduled in advance.

Café

Group visits can also be greatly enhanced by a visit to the Lobkowicz Palace Café. The Café, with its high quality, homemade meals, panoramic view and friendly multilingual staff, is a pleasant place for a light lunch or just coffee and dessert. Reservations for the café are recommended for groups of 10 or more people. For larger groups, private rooms that seat up to 50 people are also available.

School Groups

Visit_LP_Group 3School groups are especially welcome at Lobkowicz Palace Museum. Children as young as seven enjoy exploring the galleries with the audio guide, listening to the personal stories told by the family members and to the classical music that plays throughout the tour. Older students appreciate the important events in which the family took part, the world-class paintings, the musical instruments, the firearms collection and the music scores by Beethoven and Mozart.

School group visits to the Museum can also be enhanced with educational programs that allow the students to engage firsthand with historical objects and that can be tailored to complement student coursework. For more information, please see School Programs.

Teachers are welcome to contact our staff to arrange a complimentary tour in order to plan a class visit or special program built around The Collections. For more information, please contact Eva Kolovratová at +420 233 321 113 or kolovratova@lobkowicz.cz.

Small Exhibition of Books at Lobkowicz Palace to Highlight Baroque Architecture

29.11.2012 – 30.05.2013

Architecture in the Work of Peter Paul Rubens and Václav Hollar, the new book exhibition at Lobkowicz Palace, will open on 30 November and will introduce two attractive books focusing on architecture as presented by the most distinguished Baroque artists.

Exhibited will be a first edition (1622) of the work entitled Pallazi di Genova, published in Antwerp by the prominent Flemish Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens (1577–1640). The book presents detailed engravings of facades, cross sections and plans of Renaissance palaces and villas from Genoa, Italy. The second exhibited book, Castella et praetoria nobilium Brabantiae, was published by the historiographer Jacques le Roy (1633–1719). Also a first edition, it was published in Antwerp in 1694. The work is composed of more than 200 engravings and etchings.

Architecture in the Work of Peter Paul Rubens and Václav Hollar will run through 30 May 2013.
